Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 September 28, 1991) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer.
Widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Davis was at the forefront of almost every major development in jazz from World War II to the 1990s: he played on various early bebop records and recorded one of the first cool jazz records; he was partially responsible for the development of hard bop and modal jazz, and both jazz-funk and jazz fusion arose from his work with other musicians in the late 1960s and early 1970s; and his final album blended jazz and rap. Many leading jazz musicians made their names in Davis’s groups, including pianist Herbie Hancock, saxophonist John Coltrane, saxophonist Kenny Garrett, and guitarist John McLaughlin.
As a trumpeter, Davis had a pure, round sound but also an unusual freedom of articulation and pitch. He was known for favoring a low register and relatively sparse playing that served the song rather than display flashy playing, but Davis was also capable of highly complex and technically demanding trumpet work.
On March 13, 2006 Davis was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also been inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame, Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame, and Down Beat’s Jazz Hall of Fame.

This is me, charlez360, playing along to Paul Kelly’s song, “Peace” with five different tenor saxophone parts. In case you are not familiar with the original, it was played on a mellow, dark-sounding guitar. I first heard this song in the movie, “Any Given Sunday” and fell in love with it.
The ‘Tenor 5′ part is playing the basis for the whole entire song. ‘Tenor 4′ plays the guiding tones, while ‘Tenor 3′ plays a little melody that I created to fit in with the entire composition. ‘Tenor 2′ plays the melody for the beginning, and ‘Tenor 1′ ends the song with a little improvised solo. I highly recommend listening to this song with headphones, it sounds very soothing; its almost therapeutic haha. Can you guys give me feedback? I really love doing duets, trios, quartets, etc., but don’t know if my subscribers and YouTubers will like them. Do you guys like this kind of thing?
As a sidenote, YouTube pushed ‘Tenor 4′ and ‘Tenor 3′ WAY back, which kinda changed the sound I had originally produced. But if you remotely enjoy this, you can request a free mp3/wma by sending me a message on YouTube.
I hope you enjoy it, and sheet music MIGHT be written for this song, I haven’t decided, but as for my other songs:

Charlie Parker
Bird in Time 1940-1947
Selected recordings and interviews
4 CD set with two 32-page booklets with extensive liner notes and track information by Michael D. Anderson
Charlie Parker Bird in Time: 1940-1947 is a unique four disc set produced by Bebop Jazz Historian Michael D. Anderson. This set chronicles the early developmental stages of the career of the artist from 1940 to the fall of 1947. This includes his performances in the Jay McShann band, his work as a sideman, collaborations with trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, as well as his leadership of various groups.
In addition to select recordings, the four disc set includes unique interviews by Mr. Anderson with artists who performed with Charlie Parker, or “Bird” as they knew him, describing in detail their experiences with him during this period of time. These interviews provide, for the first time, a glimpse into the creative process that was engaged in making these song tracks. This is a “must have” for serious Charlie Parker music collectors.
Featured Artists:
Charlie Parker, Jay McShann, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Billy Eckstine, Erroll Garner, Hazel Scott, Rubberlegs Williams, Cootie Williams, Teddy Edwards, Milt Jackson, Roy Porter, Howard McGhee, Earl Coleman, Barry Ulanov
