Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 September 28, 1991) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer.
Widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Davis was at the forefront of almost every major development in jazz from World War II to the 1990s: he played on various early bebop records and recorded one of the first cool jazz records; he was partially responsible for the development of hard bop and modal jazz, and both jazz-funk and jazz fusion arose from his work with other musicians in the late 1960s and early 1970s; and his final album blended jazz and rap. Many leading jazz musicians made their names in Davis’s groups, including pianist Herbie Hancock, saxophonist John Coltrane, saxophonist Kenny Garrett, and guitarist John McLaughlin.
As a trumpeter, Davis had a pure, round sound but also an unusual freedom of articulation and pitch. He was known for favoring a low register and relatively sparse playing that served the song rather than display flashy playing, but Davis was also capable of highly complex and technically demanding trumpet work.
On March 13, 2006 Davis was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also been inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame, Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame, and Down Beat’s Jazz Hall of Fame.

John William Coltrane (Internet)(ur. 23 września 1926 w Hamlet, Karolina Północna, zm. 17 lipca 1967 w Nowym Jorku) jeden z najwybitniejszych i najbardziej znanych jazzowych saksofonistów XX wieku. Mąż pianistki Alice Coltrane.
Dorastał w High Point, skąd przeprowadził się do Filadelfii. Studiował w Ornstein School of Music do 1945, kiedy to otrzymał powołanie do jednostki wojskowej stacjonującej na Hawajach. Wkrótce rozpoczął współpracę z Theloniousem Monkiem, a ponowna kooperacja z Milesem zaowocowała nagraniem jednej z najwybitniejszych płyt jazzowych Kind of Blue (1959). W maju 1960 zadebiutował jego słynny zespół z pianistą McCoy Tynerem oraz perkusistą Elvinem Jonesem, do którego w 1961 dołączył basista Jimmy Garrison. Lata sześćdziesiąte to czas największych triumfów Coltrane’a.

OLGA KOST ( iNTERNET):-”I was born in 1950 in Russia. Since1950 until 1991 I’ve lived in Kiev.
1950 - 1973 - happy childhood, schooling in mathematic liceum, musical school.
1967 - 1973 - study in the Academy of Architecture and Art in Kiev. Until 1991 I worked as an architect.
At present I live and work in Cracow (Poland).
“I was found of painting since early childhood, but it was only entertainment for pleasure. I have interested in painting seriously after 40 years old. I have always wanted to open something new for myself.
The year of 1991 opened the new possibilities for me. I have used it and went to see the world. I have traveled a lot since then and it helped me to find my own world of Art, my own way in painting. I saw the world from the different sights. I can not understand and admit lots of things and I can’t change them. But when I paint I can create my own world which I like.
I began to paint with obstinacy and effort. It became the sense of my whole life. When I paint I leave behind the world with its troubles and problems. I stay alone face to face with the canvas, paints and ideas. I fly away from the reality and stay in my own world full of colors and joy. I always try to put some elements of childish purity and naivety in my pictures to make them universal - clear for everyone without paying attention to age, education or nationality.
My houses, streets and small towns are just the symbols of happy life in peace and love. I can’t stand the aggression and I paint probably for one purpose - to make people smile, looking at my paintings.
The aim of my paintings is also leave some sign of mine in this world. The pictures spread over the whole Earth and it is a great pleasure for me. I like to paint and I do it for you - you just break into a smile.”
